Senior Mental Health Lead Training

Altruist Enterprises are all set to deliver DfE fully funded training for Senior Mental Health Leads in education establishments across the West Midlands from September 2021.

Senior Mental Health Lead training is a two-day fully funded course that provides a designated senior leader at your setting with the tools to develop a positive whole school or college approach to wellbeing and mental health. Training can be delivered either in person or virtually.

The training will enable your Senior Mental Health Lead to fulfil their role effectively, supporting the continuous professional development (CPD) of leaders and teachers and complementing existing frameworks within education. The course's learning outcomes align with Public Health England’s eight principles of promoting a whole school and college approach to children and young people’s emotional health and wellbeing.

The course is soon to be submitted to the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools.

The training is free to schools and colleges as it is fully funded by the DfE. What’s more, the funding will also include a contribution to backfill the senior lead engaged in the course by bringing in a supply teacher.

In terms of timeframe, schools and colleges will have the opportunity to 'opt in' to access the funding through a digital platform early September 2021 with Altruist Enterprises Training Courses due to commence in mid-September 2021.

The initial tranche of DfE funding, available until March 2022, is being offered on a first-come-first-served basis and is sufficient to train a senior lead in a third of state schools and colleges in England.

Demand is expected to be high as both funding and training places are limited; therefore we would strongly suggest registering your setting’s interest at the earliest opportunity.
