Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders) play a key role in supporting employees, helping to raise awareness of mental health issues, supporting colleagues and improving overall wellbeing in the workplace.
MHFA Refresher training should form part of your ongoing employee wellbeing strategy, ensuring that best practice is reviewed at regular intervals and that staff are formally updated and engaged with mental health and wellbeing as well as techniques for creating a happy and healthy workplace. The training will help to create a workplace culture that’s proactive in addressing mental health issues.
It is recommended that Mental Health First Aiders complete a refresher course every two years. Our understanding of how best to recognise and tackle mental health conditions is improving all the time, so it’s important that MHFAiders maintain their knowledge so that they’re able to offer the best support to your organisation. The Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) Refresher training course enables MHFAiders to renew skills, update mental health knowledge and apply new MHFA techniques.
The refresher course is a great activity for developing your staff’s confidence and competence, helping them to succeed in their individual roles. It’s also a great team-building activity, with group discussions and workshop activities that will foster unity and understanding. As well as offering face-to-face training, we also run the MHFA Refresher online, depending on your needs.
Please note, our course is only run for those who have completed the Mental Health First Aid Two Day course.

As was the previous course, this refresher was very well presented and really helped to remind us of the principles of MHFA. It's always good to hear others perspectives and everyone was engaged.
The four-hour MHFA Refresher training course will enable you to:

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Refresher Training course content:
Learning is facilitated by an expert Altruist Enterprises trainer and sessions involve group discussions, delegate engagement via break out rooms and Q & A opportunities.

- Mental health and factors which affect wellbeing
- Stigma and discrimination
- Non-judgemental listening skills
- Mental Health First Aid action plan
- Common mental health conditions
- Practising Mental Health First Aid skills
- Self-care, wellbeing and recovery
Everyone who completes the Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) Refresher Course will receive:
- An MHFA manual to refer to whenever they need it
- A workbook including a helpful toolkit to support their own mental health
- A certificate of attendance
Online Mental Health First Aid Refresher Training course
We can provide online training for the MHFA Refresher course, delivered online as a 4-hour interactive live webinar via Zoom.
UK training course location:
We typically deliver this refresher course at client premises. We are based in Birmingham but are experienced in providing face-to-face training throughout the UK, depending on your organisation’s requirements.
We can also deliver the MHFA Refresher training online as a live webinar.
MHFA Refresher Training Course Pricing:
For 8–16 Delegates
Face-to-face and online training prices for the Mental Health First Aid Refresher course start from £137.50 + VAT per person (8 - 16 delegates). We limit numbers to 16 people per course so that our trainer can keep people safe and supported while they learn.
For 1–7 Delegates
Public online courses are priced at £175 + VAT per delegate.
